Zcash's "Organic" Comeback? Yeah, and I'm the Tooth Fairy

So, Zcash is back, huh? Trading above $500 for the first time since 2018. We're supposed to believe this is some kind of organic groundswell of support for privacy? Give me a break.

The Usual Suspects

Apparently, all the "industry’s most popular commentators" are suddenly Zcash shills. Arthur Hayes, Naval Ravikant, Mert Mumtaz, Ansem, Threadguy... Sounds less like an organic movement and more like a very well-coordinated pump-and-dump, if you ask me. Which you didn't, but here we are.

The Zcash Foundation's executive director, Alex Bornstein, claims they "had absolutely nothing to do with this whatsoever." Right. And I'm sure those "lofty price predictions interlaced with privacy-praising takes" just materialized out of thin air. Are we really supposed to believe that?

It's always the same story in crypto, isn't it? Some narrative gets pushed, a few influencers start shilling, and suddenly everyone's convinced it's the next big thing. Meanwhile, the early investors are laughing all the way to the bank.

Bitcoin 2.0? Don't Make Me Laugh

Ran Neuner from Crypto Banter is calling Zcash "the most exciting thing happening in crypto right now" and comparing it to early Bitcoin. Seriously? Bitcoin was revolutionary. Zcash is just another altcoin trying to capitalize on the privacy narrative. According to FinanceFeeds, Zcash Price Prediction: Why ZEC’s 40% Surge and LivLive’s Crypto Presale Strength Signal Market Recovery, ZEC's surge and LivLive's crypto presale strength signal market recovery.

Zcash's

Neuner says these "self-organizing cypherpunks on Reddit and Twitter" are now united around privacy, which is "the missing piece for Bitcoin." Okay, maybe there's something to that, but let's be real: most people don't give a damn about privacy until it's gone. They're too busy posting every detail of their lives on Instagram and TikTok.

And let's not forget that Bitcoin's transparency, which Neuner laments, is actually a feature, not a bug. It's what makes it secure and auditable. Zcash's privacy features come at the cost of increased complexity and potential for misuse. I wonder how many rug pulls and scams could be hidden in a privacy coin?

The "Next Big Thing" or Just Another Pump?

Then there's this LivLive thing being shilled alongside Zcash. An "AR-powered social loyalty platform built on Ethereum" that rewards you for walking around and scanning locations? This isn't the future; it's a dystopian nightmare where every aspect of our lives is gamified and monetized. But, offcourse, they're calling it the "#1 Best Crypto Presale to Buy Now."

It's the same old hype cycle all over again. Promise the moon, deliver a turd, and then blame the market when it crashes.

So, What's the Real Story?

It's simple: Zcash is riding the privacy wave, and a few well-connected influencers are making a killing off it. Whether it's actually a good investment or just another overhyped altcoin remains to be seen. But I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
